Welcome to the Big Lake Historical Society Website.  

We are a non-profit organization with the sole purpose of preserving the character, artifacts and memorabilia relating to the history of the area, and natural environment of the Big Lake Community.


This Big Lake Historical Society meets quarterly on the third Thursday of January, April, July and October at 7:00 pm at the Big Lake Church of the Nazarene Board Room.

A  PowerPoint presentation given by Melba Hall on the history of Big Lake and the surrounding areas was provided and a walking tour of "Old Big Lake Mill Town" with Andrea Millward Xaver as guide.

The Historical Society is working on an educational and historical reference book of Ehrlich, Montborne, Walker Valley, Finn Settlement, Baker Heights and Big Lake. An informational contribution of "Memories" from current and past residents may be included in that book or written in a separate book at a later date. Please send your "memories" to us about experiences and the lives of you and your family in the area.
